Abstract:

Recently, the Brazilian government started an effort to promote technological advances and innovation in Brazil by increasing the collaboration with the international community. The objective is to contribute to the internationalization of universities and research centers in Brazil by encouraging the establishment of international partnerships. This presentation is inserted in this broader goal and aims at establishing research collaboration in Information Systems (IS) between German institutions and the School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities (EACH) of the University of Sao Paulo (USP), Brazil. EACH is a school of the University of Sao Paulo, located in the East side of Sao Paulo. Our campus started operating in 2005 with an undergraduate program in Information Systems (IS). In 2010, we were granted permission to start the Master of Science graduate program. Exchange and research opportunities are expected to occur in the context of the graduate program in Information Systems. This program has three main research areas:

  1. Social and Organizational Aspects of Information Systems;
  2. Computational Systems Development;
  3. Computational Intelligence.

In this talk, we will present the organization of the graduate program, the faculty, and the main research projects currently in development. Additionally, we will discuss collaboration opportunities that can be supported by Brazilian funding agencies. Among these opportunities, we highlight:

  1. support for German students of various levels to spend exchange semesters in Brazil and similar opportunities for Brazilian students to come to German universities;
  2. funding for research stays of highly qualified German researchers in Brazil; and
  3. financial support for joint research projects between Germany and Brazil.

Alle Mitglieder des Fachbereichs Informatik sind zu dieser öffentlichen Veranstaltung herzlich eingeladen.
