Probability as an alternative to logic: Stochastic models of multimdal perception, inference, learning and action

In this talk I will argue that subjective probability (Bayesian) is an alternative to logic to reason and decide when only incomplete and uncertain information is available. I will first defend and discuss the subjectivist approach of probability, then shortly present the "Bayesian Programming" formalism and methodology to design probabilistic models. We will use this formalism to describe a variety of models and applications which have been developed in very different fields of science and industry. Pointers will be given to the ProBT® inference engine which automates all the probabilistic computation.
