Linghui Luo has been a full professor and chair for Secure Software Engineering at the University of Hamburg since September 2026. Her research lies at the intersection of software engineering, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and formal methods, with the goal of developing secure, dependable, and trustworthy software systems.
She brings extensive industry experience in software engineering, cybersecurity, and AI. She worked as an Applied Scientist at Amazon Web Services, contributing to products including Amazon Q, CodeWhisperer, and CodeGuru Security. Alongside her professorship, she is also an entrepreneur and the founder of the health-tech company ClioAssist GmbH, which develops privacy-first, on-premise AI solutions for healthcare.
Linghui Luo received her PhD in Computer Science from Paderborn University in 2021. Her research contributions have been recognized with several awards, including the Ernst Denert Software Engineering Award 2021, awarded by the Software Engineering Division of the German Informatics Society (GI) in cooperation with the Austrian Computer Society (OCG) and the Swiss Informatics Society (SI) for outstanding research contributions in software engineering.
She also actively serves the international software engineering research community as a program committee member for leading conferences such as ICSE, ESEC/FSE, and ISSTA.
