The final phase of the 4th CAU-FLS Programming Contest was held on April 26th 2018, hosted by the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel and the software company Fast Lean Smart from Heikendorf. This year marked the first time that – through a cooperation between the Algorithms and Complexity group from Kiel and the research group Theory of Efficient Algorithms from Hamburg – students from Hamburg could participate in this contest. There were three categories, each with a prize money of 2.000 EUR. Among the winners were three students from Hamburg: Bernd Strehl won in the category “Theory”, while the team consisting of Philipp Naumann and Marcus Soll provided the best implementation and won in the category “Programming”. We concratulate all winners to their outstanding performance and look forward to the next iteration of the contest!
