On January 18th, we welcomed Dr. Diego Collarana who is a Senior Research Engineer at the Netmedia Department of the Fraunhofer IAIS.
His talk titled “Knowledge graphs in the Wild, Use Cases and Applications” walked us from the foundations of Knowledge Graphs to the latest development technologies used in industry. In particular, he caught the attention of the students by talking about real-life challenges and issues when dealing with semantic technology.
We would like to thank Dr. Diego Collarana Vargas for his contribution to the Knowledge Graphs lecture series.
About the speaker: Diego specialized in the conceptualization, design, and development of Enterprise Information Systems using state-of-the-art technologies, such as Deep Learning, Knowledge Graphs, and Linked Data. His master's degree in the area of Software Engineering gave him a solid knowledge in Project Management, Software Architecture and Design, Software Development, and User Experience. His Ph.D. gives him enough expertise to solve complex problems in enterprises such as big data integration and analysis, semantic search, question answering, and dialog systems, plus knowledge graphs creation and exploitation. Next to his position at Fraunhofer IAIS as a leader for Knowledge Graphs, he is the Director of the Institute for Computational Intelligence at the Universidad Privada Boliviana.
