We are excited to share with you our latest work on the NFDI4DS Gateway, a platform that we have been developing in collaboration with Team Franhaufer FOKUS. We had the opportunity to present our platform at the first Conference on Research Data Infrastructure (CoRDI), which was held in Karlsruhe from September 12 to 14, 2023. The conference was organized by the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) association and hosted by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).
The NFDI4DS Gateway is a platform that aims to make research data more accessible and reusable. It is powered by a knowledge graph that enables dynamic and semantic search of digital objects from various sources. It also supports the integration of existing and new services into the platform, such as data analysis, visualization, annotation, and curation tools. Our poster presentation demonstrated the features and functionalities of our platform and invited feedback from other researchers on our future plans.
The conference was a great success, with about 700 researchers attending from different disciplines and countries. The conference theme was "Connecting Communities", which reflected the goal of NFDI to foster interdisciplinary and international collaboration on research data management. The conference program included research talks, lectures, and paper & poster presentations covering various aspects of research data infrastructure.
Our platform is part of the NFDI4DataScience consortium, which is one of the consortia under the Engineering sciences division of NFDI. The consortium provides support and guidance for researchers in all stages of the research lifecycle to conduct their research in accordance with the FAIR principles. The FAIR principles are a set of standards that ensure that research data are Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable. The consortium targets researchers from all areas of data science and artificial intelligence. Our platform is designed to be flexible and adaptable, so that it can be extended to other consortia and domains as well.
This collaborative journey holds promise not only for the present but for the future of research data infrastructure. It's a prime example of how innovation and collaboration can bring about transformative change, fostering connections and uniting diverse research communities.
