Biography
Johann Mayer completed his bachelor's degree in psychology at the University of Twente and went on to specialize in human factors psychology for his master's. During his studies, he was involved in a research project at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where he investigated the effects of gender bias on the effectiveness of cybersecurity training. In his master's thesis, he used electroencephalography to explore how trust in AI recommendations can be measured during high-risk decision-making processes. Since 01.11.2025, he is a doctoral student in the research group Digital Innovation and Transformation, where he assists teaching and coordinating the ITMC study program and works on his doctorate. His research topics and interests include usability engineering and evaluation, trust in AI, responsible AI literacy, and bias and fairness in algorithmic decision-making processes.
