Abstract:
Computation offloading is a useful technique to circumvent device restrictions and bring novel, computationally-intensive applications to a heterogeneous and diverse device land scape. Existing computation offloading approaches often target a specific platform or application and require complicated resource provider setup or costly operations. In this thesis, a novel universal framework for general computation offloading is developed, that can utilize modern pervasive web browsers as an offloading target by employing WebAssembly as a task bytecode format.
