We research all kinds of distributed systems and their practical applications.
Some of our focuses include:
- Computational Offloading in Heterogeneous Environments: Our Tasklet system allows us to distribute a computation over several devices. We study how to optimize these distributions based on the properties of the devices and networks.
- Smart Cities: Distributed computing plays a large role in sensor networks. Our projects make use of data collected by those, always looking to enhance urban environments.
- Assistive Health Systems: We aim to improve accessibility and health in several aspects using Internet of Things (IoT) and other technologies.
- Drones: Our latest project takes us to inland ports. Using drones, we create a digital twin through which we can optimize logistical throughput.
- EdgeAI: Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly used directly on edge devices such as smartphones, IoT sensors, and other local hardware. We aim to increase the context awareness of these AI applications and research ways to dynamically adjust and distribute model inference.
