Short Biography
Jan König is a research associate in the Computer Networks research group at the University of Hamburg. Jan received his Master’s degree in Computational Mathematics from the University of Würzburg in 2023 and his Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the Leibniz University Hannover in 2019. Prior to joining UHH, he also worked as a Machine Learning Engineer for KOBIL GmbH in Darmstadt.
Research Topics
My research focuses on the network stack of high-performance computing (HPC) clusters that serve as infrastructure for both modern AI/ML workloads and computer simulations in the natural sciences.
- Distributed ML training and inference
- RDMA networks

- Offloading to SmartNICs, DPUs and other acceleators
- Security of distributed workloads
