Historic Development of the Research Group
Since 1988 Prof. Dr. Klaus Brunnstein (*25.5.1937 - +19.05.2015) continuously confronted a stream of students with issues of data protection and IT security. Among others, he offered a four-semester cycle of lectures on all aspects of IT security. After the retirement of Prof. Brunnstein the research group was led by by Prof. Dr. Joachim Posegga since 2003. Since that time, a good collaboration with Prof. Dieter Gollmann from the Technical University Hamburg-Harburg exists, with whom the Oberseminar has been jointly organized. In addition, the international conferences ESORICS 2006 and RAID 2006 were jointly organized and held in Hamburg. Since 2008 Prof. Posegga teaches at the University of Passau. Between 2008 and 2011, the working group was directed by Dr. Klaus-Peter Kossakowski, who acted as stand-in professor.
In April 2011, Prof. Dr. Hannes Federrath took over the research group, after he had led the Department for Management of Information Security at the University of Regensburg for eight years.
In September 2016, Prof. Dr. Mathias Fischer joined the research group.
