Datafication represents a fundamental paradigm shift for contemporary society. It is changing the role of information and technology in the constitution of the social, accelerating the crisis of liberal democracies. In her talk on 5.6.2019 - as part of our public lecture series “Taming the Machines” - Professor Stefania Milan (University of Amsterdam) will explore how citizens, social change activists, and variably skilled users engage with datafication looking at emerging practices of data activism as form of innovative ‘data witchcraft’ aimed at changing society and protecting privacy.
