Ever since the release of ChatGPT, Artificial Intelligence has become a prominent topic in public discourse. However, AI had been pervasive in many areas of life before, ranging from search engines and recommender systems over weather forecasting and pattern recognition in cancer diagnostics to the use of software to support decisions in the social, educational or justice sector. This versatile use of KI brings many advantages, but also raises numerous ethical questions. In her lecture Prof. Dr. Judith Simon will outline central ethical challenges of AI drawing on the recent report by the German Ethics Council entitled “Humans and Machines - Challenges by Artificial Intelligence”.
