Prof. Dr. Judith Simon has been selected as one of 60 independent experts to serve on the European Commission’s newly established AI Act Scientific Panel. The appointment is for two years and the result of a highly competitive selection process involving more than 1,000 applicants.

The Scientific Panel advises the European Union’s AI Office and national authorities on the implementation of the AI Act and assessment of the impacts and risks of General-Purpose AI (GPAI) models. Its work includes identifying systemic risks, advising on GPAI classification and evaluation methodologies and supporting market surveillance.
