Hackathon - Smart Urban Data for Disaster Response - 64-636
Lecture objectives and content
In this practice-oriented course, students have the opportunity to expand their programming and development skills by developing innovative solutions for crisis-proof technologies in small teams. The hackathon provides a framework in which ideas for the use of intelligent systems to overcome crisis situations are developed and prototypically implemented. Within a compact timeframe, the participants will develop software and technical concepts that focus, for example, on distributed data collection, adaptive communication networks, sensor technologies, AI or the use of drones to deal with emergencies. In addition to predefined topics, there is also the opportunity to contribute your own ideas. If required, specific hardware components, including drones, can be provided to implement the projects. After a kick-off event to introduce the process, the actual group phase takes place as a block event over a weekend (Friday to Sunday). At the end of this intensive work phase, the groups are given a further task to complete outside of the scheduled time. The final stage is a presentation in which the teams present their final projects.
