Title: Report of the Current State of Renew Development
Development of tools to support the Paose-approach (Petri net, Agent and Organization oriented Software Engineering) is an ongoing concern.
With more than 20 years of development Renew has some technical debt.
To address this and considerable technological developments in the surrounding development ecosystem we started a redesign of the software
architecture.
Java 9 and the long term support version of Java 11 provide the Java module system (JMS).
Modules and layers of Java allow us to enhance our plugin architecture even further to support our goals.
In this talk I will give some insights into the whole development process over the last years.
The central new aspects of the Renew architecture, its advantages, the impact on (teaching) projects and some implications for the
Paose-approach are discussed.
