Christian Burkert was a research associate in the Security and Privacy research group at University of Hamburg from November 2016 until March 2023. He holds a diploma in computer science from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). From August 2014 to October 2016 he worked as a privacy engineer and consultant for praemandatum GmbH, Hannover.
Christian coordinated the EMPRI-DEVOPS research project which involved two universities, a data protection agency and two SMEs. It was funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Christian contributed to the project by analysing the collection and processing of personal data by DevOps tools, the privacy risks arising from such collections, and practical approaches for a more data minimal software design.
- Practical data minimisation strategies in software engineering
- Mitigating employee monitoring in digital work environments
- Integration of Privacy by Design principles into software engineering processes
- Translation of legal data protection requirements to technical system designs
