Short Biography
Anne is a research associate in the Security in Distributed Systems (SVS) research group at University of Hamburg since September 2021.
She studied Informatics at the University of Hamburg (UHH) with a focus on IT security. During her studies, she worked on enhancing anonymous communication on the Internet, concentrating on Tor and mix networks. Her work explored ways to increase anonymity in Tor by transferring mix-network functionalities into the system, particularly through the use of stream-oriented mixing approaches.
Her current research continues to work toward stronger anonymity online. With the renewed attention on mix networks, Anne’s work increasingly focuses on their design and behavior. Instead of enhancing anonymity through conventional methods, her work explores the interdependencies between resilience and privacy in these modern architectures.
Anne is also interested in Linux systems and intrusion detection. She has contributed to the development of real-world attack scenarios and defense mechanisms for critical infrastructure in Hamburg.
