Erik is a research associate and PhD student in the Security and Privacy research group at University of Hamburg since April 2016. He holds an Master of Science in physics from the University of Rostock.
In general, I'm interested in how we can make the web more private and secure. I'm studying web tracking, browser security, privacy enhancing technologies and geolocation methods in mobile networks .
Erik is the coordinator of the AppPETs project, which includes multiple universities and enterprises. In his academic function he is responsible for the inclusion of privacy enhanching technologies like private information retrieval (PIR) or secure multi-party computation within the research project.

Erik contributed to a technical analysis for the German Parliamentary Committee investigating the NSA spying scandal on geolocation methods in mobile networks.
