We are seeking a Research Associate for the project “Human-AI Teaming Therapeutic Companion for Torture Survivors with PTSD.” The full-time, fixed-term position (EGR. 13 TV-L) starts on 1 November 2026, subject to external funding, and runs until 31 October 2028. Applications are open until 18 August 2026.

The project develops a generative AI therapeutic companion to support torture survivors with PTSD between therapy sessions. The role is to support the ethical, epistemological and methodological foundations of the project, with a strong emphasis on AI ethics, research ethics, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

We are looking for applicants with a Master degree in philosophy with a strong background in AI ethics and research ethics, preferably with experience in interdisciplinary research and a strong interest in ethical and epistemological challenges involved in AI systems, especially in sensitive application domains such as mental health. Excellent analytical and communicative skills in German and English language are essential.
