The publication of student work at the recent IEEE Virtual Reality conference (IEEE VR 2016) inspired the editors of the Air & Space/Smithsonian magazine to write an article:
At the conference, a video was presented, which demonstrated the results of one of our Bachelor project groups from 2015. The students designed a virtual flight interface in virtual reality with Unity3D and the Oculus Rift DK2. The participant’s body is recognized by a Microsoft Kinect 2 and works as a controller for the flight. In order to increase the immersion during the flight, users are hanging freely at the ceiling.
