Frank Steinicke gave a keynote entitled “Blending AI and XR for the Next Generation of Smart Avatars and Intelligent Virtual Agents” at the IEEE VR 2025 Next Generation Avatars (NGA) workshop. In his presentations, he highlighted the innovative integration of Generative AI with XR technologies. This was showcased by the work of the PRESENCE’s project, in particular, in WP4 Intelligent Virtual Humans.

The workshop closed with a panel entitled “The future of avatar research” including the keynote speakers, organizers, and audience to discuss in an interactive manner the future directions and challenges of the community on the topic of avatars.
