The German Research Foundation (DFG) has awarded a new DFG grant to our group entitled "EYERES - Predicting, Evoking and Exploiting Eye Movements and Blinks for Redirection Systems" for a period of 36 months. In the project, AI-based methods will be used to predict eye movements, in particular fixations, saccades and blinks, of users wearing smart glasses and exploit them for various perception-based experiments and applications in extended reality. The principal investigators are Prof. Dr. Frank Steinicke and Prof. Dr. Markus Lappe from the University of Münster.
The total funding for the project is about 650,000 euros, of which about 320,000 euros were approved for the UHH.
