Understanding the changes that may occur in our biosphere as climate change progresses has significant, widespread implications for all areas of life and related policy decisions. Efforts are underway to study the impacts of elevated temperatures at the MERIT field site in the wadden sea. MERIT plots are equipped with multiple kinds of metrology equipment to quantify the state of the environment and the behavior of plants under an artificial heating treatment. This experimental setup must be carefully managed and maintained to ensure good data quality for other experiments. A digital twin for research is realized to provide an integrated data model of the MERIT site, allowing both site management and investigations of research questions from one integrated data model and autonomous analytics system.
