Dr. Oliver Kopp is acting professor at the SWK Chair since October 2025. He studied Software Engineering at University of Stuttgart and received his doctorate at the Institute of Architecture of Application Systems (IAAS) under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Frank Leymann. He switched to industry and took leading roles in the BMWK-funded project Software-Defined Car at Mercedes-Benz AG and in his work at Nokia Bell Labs, where he advanced the integration of modern cloud and edge computing concepts into complex software architectures.

His research combines software and system architecture, cloud computing, business process management, and automotive software engineering. He has led and contributed to several national and European research projects and contributed to more than 130 peer-reviewed publications.
