Paper Publication and Participation at the Pacific Asia Conference on Information Systems (PACIS)
15 July 2024, by Marten Borchers
At the beginning of July, Marten Borchers attended the Pacific Asia Conference on Information Systems (PACIS), which was held under the motto "The Next Generation for the IT-Driven Future". The conference focused on current issues critical to developing innovative services, business models, and theoretical frameworks that drive sustainable progress in the IT sector.
Marten Borchers presented the paper titled "Toward the ML-based Analysis of Citizens' Inputs from E-Participation in Urban Planning", co-authored with Eva Bittner and Thu-Bao Cao. This study investigates the application of machine learning in analyzing e-participation data to improve urban planning processes. By using clustering algorithms trained on different datasets, the research aims to refine the extraction of actionable insights from public participation to improve participatory governance.
In addition to academic exchanges, the conference also provided numerous opportunities for networking and cultural excursions, allowing participants to interact with peers and explore Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam). We thank the organizers and participants for making this event a success.
We look forward to the potential collaboration and intellectual exchange that such conferences foster and to more contributions from our team at upcoming academic forums. The paper can be accessed here.
