TRAIL Project: First Network Meeting In Manchester
29 November 2023
The first meeting of the TRAIL project took place in Manchester (UK) between November 20th-21st. TRAIL is a new EU project which focuses on Transparent, InterpretabLe Robots. It is a Doctoral Network funded as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action by the European Commission 2023-2027 coordinated by Prof. Stefan Wermter and the Knowledge Technology team at the University of Hamburg. Further information on the TRAIL project and our research can also be found at here.
From Knowledge Technology, Prof. Wermter, Julia Gachot, Theresa Pekarek Rosin, and Sergio Lanza joined the meeting. The first day was dedicated to the doctoral candidates who presented their research proposal to all members of the project with two presentations about sustainable AI and how to approach the PhD studies. On the second day, in the morning the supervisors gave lectures on how to approach the research and the experiments. In the afternoon, the students conducted two workshops on two frameworks used for research: ROS and PyTorch, the latter organized by Knowledge Technology. The visit was a great success for the development of our PhD students who started their first steps into the research field of explainability.
