Between May 15th and May 17th, the Knowledge Technology group welcomed the partners of the Horizon Europe project TERAIS. During the 3-day field trip, the visitors were introduced to the group, the University of Hamburg, and some of its processes for supporting research and researchers. On the second day of the visit, the “Explainability and Robot Learning” seminar took place, in which topics related to novelties in Machine Learning, Robotics, and Explainability in Neural Networks were discussed. A NICO workshop also took place on the final day of the event, which started with scientific presentations by some of our postdocs and Ph.D. students. Later, the visitors also had an interactive experience with robotics at the labs of the Knowledge Technology group and were presented with different robotic platforms (NICO, NICOL, iCub, and Pepper) by our scientific staff.
The visit provided an exceptional opportunity for scientific exchange in presence and paved the way for future joint research collaborations between the project partners, which is one of the core goal pillars of the TERAIS project.
