Staff Exchange from TERAIS Project

From project TERAIS, Lukáš Gajdošech (Comenius University, Bratislava) has joined our group for two weeks in September, 2024. During this time, Lukáš brought his expertise in 3D vision—his PhD research focus—to the table, working alongside our team collaboratively. His contributions included novel data collection, with particular attention to object classification and surface fusion. One of the significant challenges Lukáš tackled during the exchange involved improving our humanoid robot NICOL's ability to perceive transparent objects, a difficult task in computer vision due to problems like occlusion and interreflections. We developed a novel interaction scenario where NICOL autonomously pours a liquid into a transparent container chosen by the user. On 10^th of September, he presented this scenario and his work in our group seminar. We thank Lukáš for his contributions!
