In May 2025, Justus Middendorf, a participant of the base.camp at the University of Hamburg, had the opportunity to present his research findings at the 44th Symposium of the European Association of Remote Sensing Laboratories (EARSeL) in Prague. During a poster session, he showcased the developed software for fully automatic localization of wind energy turbines in orthophotos. The paper is published as: 10.5194/isprs-archives-XLVIII-M-7-2025-35-2025.
The conference was characterized by an open and dynamic atmosphere, which enabled numerous exciting encounters. "It was incredibly inspiring to experience the latest developments in remote sensing and image processing and to engage in conversations with experts from around the world," reports Justus. Particularly impressive were the diverse presentations on topics such as AI-assisted image analysis and climate data processing.
"I met many great people and gained exciting ideas — the days at the symposium were truly a personal highlight," summarizes Justus.
