Hello everyone :)

July is here and the semester is slowly drawing to a close. We hope you’ve settled in well during this first – albeit still somewhat chaotic – semester at our new location and in the new buildings, even though quite a few things have changed.
With the exam period fast approaching, we’d naturally like to wish you all the best of luck and, at the same time, remind you to register for and deregister from your exams in good time.
We’ve also restocked both drinks fridges for you – hurray!

Here are some upcoming events for this month:

Thu 9 July from 5 pm in front of the Geomatikum
Barbecue against budget cuts
The Geos against budget cuts invite you to a social and informative end-of-semester barbecue.

Wed 15 July from 5 pm in Seminar Room 5.2
Film night: ‘Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind’
The Kulturgenießer invite you to a cosy Ghibli film night.

Tue 28 July, 2 pm–9.30 pm in Seminar Room 5.4
Spielkum
The games group meets regularly for a few hours to play board games together.
If you’d like to stay up to date in future, feel free to join the “Spielkum” group in our WhatsApp community.

Departmental and Faculty Council Elections

You have until next Friday (10 July) to vote online for student representatives on the Departmental and Faculty Councils.
You’ve all received the login details for this by email.
Please do exercise your right to vote, as the people elected will represent you all in dealings with the Department and the MIN Faculty.

PS: If you keep an eye out, you might even spot representatives from your favourite FSR on the lists.

HOW ARE U(HH)

A university-wide student health survey is currently being conducted by the UHH Psychological Counselling Service.
The aim is to find out more about your current situation – particularly with regard to mental health, stress, study conditions and satisfaction with your studies. The results will help to further develop support services in line with needs and provide important input for the future organisation of study programmes and teaching.
The survey takes about 15 minutes to complete, and there’s also the chance to win some great prizes for participants.

Bits against Cuts

Just as with ‘Geos against Cuts’, a movement against funding cuts has now been set up here in our computer science department: ‘Bits against Cuts’.
