NET2: Learning Robots
The NET2 workshop and the Midterm meeting were held on April 22nd and 23rd in Barcelona the premises of the CSIC.
On the first day, the attendees were greeted by the coordinator Stefan Wermter. Afterward, the DCs presented their research progress as well as their experiences in the second learning circle activity.
Silvia Rossi then introduced the 3rd learning circle activity "Empirical Research". Here the DCs will design a human-robot interaction experiment, which will be peer-reviewed within their learning circles.
Xavier Giró presented a talk on "Deep Generative Learning" and Joan Solà held a talk on the topic of "Lie theory for the roboticist".
Afterward, we had the opportunity to visit the Perception and Manipulation Lab, as well as the Mobile Robotics Lab. Guillem Alenyà's team showcased their current research with interesting robot demonstrations.
In the evening the DCs headed to a Nihonga painting class with Maria Alberich as a team-building exercise, while the PIs, the PM, and the newly elected DC representative Theodor Wulff held a Management and Supervisory Board meeting.
On the second day, we held our Midterm Meeting (MTM) with our project officer Dana Weintraub.
The meeting started with a tour-de-table, after which Dana Weintraub introduced the purpose of the MTM, followed by an overview of the project presented by the coordinator and PIs. Afterward, the DCs introduced themselves and their research projects in short 10-minute presentations.
In a series of restricted sessions, the project officer and the members of the consortium discussed the project and received feedback on different elements of the process.
After the end of the meeting, everyone had the chance to enjoy the Sant Jordi festivities in the city.
