NET3: Knowledge Exchange
On the 16th and 17th of September 2024, we held the NET3 workshop alongside the 33rd International Conference on Artificial Neural Networks (ICANN 2024) in Lugano, Switzerland.
On the first day, the attendees were greeted by the coordinator Stefan Wermter. Afterward, the DCs presented the results of the third learning circle activity focused on HRI experiment design.
Raquel Ros and Rachid Alami then presented their talks on "Research Methods in HRI".
To further the goal of the workshop "Knowledge Exchange", the DCs then presented a selection of useful papers and frameworks and received feedback from the consortium on their presentation skills.
Afterward, Alessandro Sperduti presented a talk on the topic of "Advanced Neural Networks", followed by a presentation by Loo Chu Kiong on "Explainable Lifelong Streaming Learning".
Rachid Alami introduced the 4th learning circle activity, in which the DCs will complete their industry secondments.
In the evening, we held the Management and Supervisory Board Meeting with both DCs and PIs.
On the second day, the ICANN conference kicked off, and in the afternoon we held our workshop on "Explainability in Human-Robot Interaction". The session was chaired by Angelo Cangelosi, Igor Farkas, Stefan Wermter, and Theresa Pekarek Rosin.
We invited Elmira Yadollahi from Lancaster University and Marta Romeo from the Edinburgh Centre for Robotics as expert speakers and they presented topical talks on "Multimodal Explainability in Human-Robot Interaction" and "Actions speak louder than words: How transparency shapes trust in robots", respectively.
The DCs introduced the state and direction of their research to the scientific community in attendance and received great feedback and questions from the audience.
See you in Padua!
