NET4: Collaboration
On the 17th and 18th of March, we held the NET4 workshop in Padua, Italy, at the University of Padua. The topic of this workshop was collaboration, which was reflected in the program and the spirited group discussions.
On the 17th, the DCs presented their experiences in the industry secondments as part of the conclusion of LCA4. Following that, we had presentations by Matteo Gerosa (Head of the Project Management Group in Fondazione Bruno Kessler) on "Research Funding and Academic Project Management" and Prof. Claudia Sandei (University of Padua) on "Intellectual Property".
After lunch, we started to draft a first TRAIL scenario that could encompass all research projects, with the help of a talk by Prof. Lamberto Ballan (University of Padua) on "Embodied AI".
Igor Farkas introduced LCA5 on "Outreach & User Engagement", followed by a talk on "Efficient Dissemination" by Giuliano Muzio (Chief Corporate Relationship Officer, Fondazione Bruno Kessler).
In the evening, we held the Supervisory Board & Management meeting, with DC representative Theodor Wulff, while the remaining DCs attended a meeting on the "Transfer of Skills" with Niccolò Stamboglis (Databeers Padua).
On the 18th, the DCs presented their research progress and received feedback from the consortium. This was followed by a talk by Prof. Emanuele Menegatti (University of Padua, co-founder IT+Robotics and EXiMotion) on the topic of "Personal Development in Academia and Industry".
After lunch, we continued the discussion of the TRAIL scenario and which project collaboration might be useful to reach this goal. These smaller groups will also form the basis for the academic secondments coming up later this year. To conclude, we discussed which outreach opportunities might be a good target for the demonstrators and materials created during these project collaborations.
Overall, we had a very productive meeting in Padua and are looking forward to returning to Barcelona in the fall.
