The LT group is pleased to announce the following invited talk:
Date: March 7, 2017
Location: Stellingen, F433
Time: 11:00 - 12:00
Title: Privalino
Presenter: Nicolai Erbs (Co-founder of Privalino)
Abstract:
Children communicate with their friends using chats on a daily basis. However, the anonymity of the Internet leads to potential risks for them. They can become victims of internet predators who approach them to collect sensible information, photos, or arrange meetings. The goal of Privalino is to provide a safe chat environment for children. We came up with a solution that allows children to chat with friends and family without having to fear so called internet predators. The focus of Privalino is to detect cyber-grooming, sextortion and cyber-mobbing. We use natural language processing and machine learning for identifying suspicious chat patterns.
Privalino applies features ranging from lexicon coverage to argumentation structure which eventually leads to a textual fingerprint of the author. The technology is based on machine learning algorithms and we will show which features are best suited to identify personality profiles. The chat transcripts are analyzed with linguistic preprocessing and accounts for the specific characteristics of chat transcripts. We will present, which modifications of standard classification pipelines yield the highest improvements and make the difference between a scientific project and a commercial product.
The presentation will also cover the business aspects of the company. We will explain, why sales and marketing play a crucial role in the early phase.
