Master 4 Streaming
Developed within the Bachelor's Project "Digital Audio Production Tools" in Winter Semester 2017/2018.
Streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music normalize all music tracks to the same loudness. This is done to ensure listeners do not have to adjust the output volume between different songs in their playlists. To optimize the listening experience with loudness normalization, the world of music production is facing new challenges: Audio loudness is measured over the entire music track. State-of-the-art digital audio workstations (DAW's) are not made to do this on the fly, which in turn makes the production process slow and difficult. To overcome this limitation, within the Bachelor's Project "Digital Audio Production Tools", the tool M4S - Master for Streaming has been developed. It has been desigend to simplify the mastering process by automatically adjusting the parameters of effects, specifically the limiter, on the fly to ensure that the desired loudness is always maintained.
Ultimately, M4S lets musicians produce their music optimized for streaming services in a quick and easy fashion.
