Research Databases
Are you looking for articles, conference papers, etc. on a particular topic?
Scientific research databases offer the opportunity to search for subject-specific information. The Datenbank Infosystem DBIS (in German) offers an overview of free databases and databases licensed for the library system of the University of Hamburg.
Thanks to the specialist focus and the extended search options, you can define your search precisely and receive results that are really relevant to you. Depending on the type of database, you will find journal articles, book chapters, conference papers, books, data, statistics, etc.
In full-text databases, the electronic full text is linked. Bibliographic databases contain only titles and summaries of scientific articles. Further searches for example in library catologues are necessary for the entire articles.
Selected Computer Science Databases
- ACM Digital Library offers full text of every article ever published by ACM and bibliographic citations from major publishers in computing.
- IEEE Xplore / Electronic Library Online (IEL) (fulltext database) is a digital library providing full text access to technical literature in electrical engineering, computer science, and electronics from 1988 onwards, partly even from 1950 onwards. IEEE Xplore contains full text documents from IEEE journals, transactions, magazines, letters, conference proceedings, standards, and IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology) publications. IEEE Xplore will be updated frequently with new content as it becomes available.

Interdisciplinary Databases (Selection)
- Web of Science (reference database) consists of seven databases containing information gathered from thousands of scholarly journals, books, book series, reports, conferences, and more.
The Web of Science citation databases contain the references cited by the authors of the articles. You can use these references to do cited reference searching. This type of search allows you to find articles that cite a previously published work. -
POLLUX: The Subject Information Service (FID) for Political Sciences provides direct access to electronic publications (e-books, e-journals, e-articles), scientific Open Access documents, research data and content from subject databases and newspaper archives.
