Abstract:
Software systems still face frequent modifications long after their initial development. Those changes are, however, often accompanied by unintended side effects, which in turn require change impact analysis to minimize the risks when existing systems are changed. The thesis presents a rule-based impact analysis approach that is able to forecast the consequences of changes which are applied on an interplay of source code, test cases, and different types of models. The approach was evaluated by a case study during which an existing system underwent various refactoring and maintenance scenarios.
