Analysis and Design of Data-Driven Business Models

Abstract:

As the amount of data is increasingly growing since the last decade, the potential to create value out of data becomes more and more relevance. Using such data as a key resource to create a new value proposition for the customer is called data-driven business models. However, the connection between the key resource data and a new value proposition needs to be done and the certain components in between are not defined yet. This dissertation follows the Design Science Research Methodology and developed an artefact, called Data Insight Generator, which connects the key resource data and new value proposition in data-driven business models. This artefact creates design knowledge in the field of data-driven business models. Further, the dissertation performed an application of the Data Insight Generator in the field of smart cities.
