Titel der Dissertation: The Politics of Platform Governance - NetzDG, Democracy, and the Regulation of Content Moderation in Germany

The thesis investigates how platform governance is shaped by specific political contexts and publicly debated. To this end, it utilizes a framing analysis of the media reporting on the Network Enforcement Act in Germany. Based on this analysis, the work finds that the interaction of platforms with established political and legal structures creates a space to renegotiate the shape of democracy and the relation between corporate platforms, state institutions, and users/citizens. It closes with a discussion on what can be learned for the future of platform governance.
