Einladung zur hochschulöffentlichen Disputation im Rahmen des Promotionsverfahrens von Heiko Bornholdt

Titel der Dissertation: Software-Defined Overlay Networking for the Deployment of Distributed Applications at the Edge

Distributed computing can, in principle, occur anywhere in expanding networks. However, for efficiency and security, execution should ideally be close to the application and data, leading to the concept of “edge computing”. Challenges arise from heterogeneous, uncontrolled networks and devices, especially in smart cities or industrial automation. This thesis proposes a middleware to simplify edge application development through centralized control and goal-oriented overlay network programming.
The presentation will be given in English.
