Einladung zur hochschulöffentlichen Disputation im Rahmen des Promotionsverfahrens von Fabian Burmeister

Titel der Dissertation: Enterprise and Ecosystem Architecture Modeling for the Creation and Application of Law

The rapid pace of digitalization intensifies the tension at the intersection of Information Systems (IS) and law. In particular, the pervasiveness of digital business ecosystems raises complex challenges in the creation and application of law, requiring both IS and legal experts to develop deeper socio-techno-legal expertise and interdisciplinary competencies. This dissertation leverages Enterprise Architecture (EA) and Ecosystem Architecture (EcoA) modeling to bridge the gap between IS and law. Using Design Science Research across three regulatory contexts—data protection, media regulation, and e-government—it develops and evaluates several artifacts, including EA and EcoA meta-models, architectural models and maps, and interdisciplinary methods to support and systematize collaboration between IS and legal experts. The findings show that EA and EcoA modeling not only facilitate legal compliance and lawful IS design but also contribute to improving legislation.
