In her talk on 6 May 2026, Dr. Lucy Osler explores the possibilities and limitations of using AI chatbots for talking to and with oneself. From artistic experiments with old diaries fed into ChatGPT to everyday conversations with a chatbot, she asks, drawing on Hannah Arendt’s work on the importance of solitude, whether AI can support the kind of inner conversation that is central to critical thinking and reflection.
