Prof. Dr. Azadeh Akbari, recently named by „Die Zeit“ as one of seven thinkers to know, is our next guest speaker at „Taming the Machines“ on 3 June 2026. In her talk she develops the concept of uneven datafication, drawing on literature on coloniality, uneven development, and dependency theory. She shows how datafication is neither homogeneous nor universal, but marked by colonial continuities, spatial differentiation, and temporal unevenness that sustain colonial capitalist accumulation.
