Leif Bonorden successfully defended his doctoral dissertation.

We are delighted to announce that Leif Bonorden successfully defended his doctoral thesis on the topic of ‘Understanding and Detecting Usage of Deprecated Remote APIs' on 21 July 2026. We warmly congratulate him on this achievement!

Under the supervision of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Matthias Riebisch, Prof. Dr.-Ing. André van Hoorn, Prof. Dr. Janick Edinger, and Prof. Dr. Justus Bogner, Leif Bonorden has developed a framework to detect usage of deprecated remote APIs in a language-independent way by integrating multiple data sources.

The examination commission evaluating Leif Bonorden's work consisted of Prof. Dr. Janick Edinger (Universität Hamburg, research group DOS), Prof. Dr. Justus Bogner (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam) and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Anne Koziolek (KIT, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology).

Leif has been a member of our research group since April 2019 and has always been highly committed and successful in his contributions to teaching, research and project work.

We are particularly delighted that Leif has taken on a new key role within the Department of Computer Science at Universität Hamburg and will thus continue to contribute to shaping teaching in our department with his expertise, skills and ideas.
