Topic
The Life of a Computer Scientist among Chemists
Language: english
Abstract
As all natural sciences, research in chemistry has a strong link to computer
science. There is hardly no field of computer science which does not find
its applications on chemical problems. Graph algorithms - molecules are
labeled graphs - optimization, machine learning, data engineering,
software engineering, simulation and visualization, often a little bit
of everything is required to find good solutions to computational problems.
In this talk, I will highlight several results from our research in the life
sciences from the past years exemplifying this connection. So, how is life
as a computer scientist among chemists? The short answer: Challenging, but
satisfying!
