Invitation to the Memorial Service for André van Hoorn

We were all deeply shocked when we learned of the much too early death of our colleague André van Hoorn. For the entire department, this loss is painful and leaves us saddened. In addition to our grief, we also feel gratitude for the privilege of having known André as a colleague, lecturer, and above all, as a person. To honor his contributions to our department and to understand the topics André advanced in computer science well beyond Hamburg, we would like to invite all department members, together with André’s family, to a memorial service on July 16 at 4:00 PM in the Informatikum (Lecture Hall B-201).

André himself did not like mourning ceremonies. Therefore, we would like to spend this event in a spirit of gratitude and hope, and together with those who accompanied André throughout his life, recognize his work and impact. We invite you to get to know the person André van Hoorn through the eyes of those who have had the privilege of spending many years with him.

Following the approximately hour-long event, there will be an opportunity to engage in conversation during a small reception. We look forward to your attendance.
