Oliver Kopp appointed as acting head of SWK

Oliver Kopp leads the SWK research group in winter semester 2025/2026.

We welcome Oliver Kopp as acting professor and interim head of SWK research group! He takes over this role from October 2025 to March 2026, while the academic search process for a permanent appointment is conducted.

Oliver Kopp starts teaching immediately in the modules SE 1, Seminar (Bachelor) and SWA, allowing the group to offer most of their usual courses. In addition, the group offers the module SEE. Furthermore, Oliver Kopp will supervise some bachelor's and master's theses.

At the same time, we bid farewell to Sebastian Werner (acting professor in winter semester 2024/2025 and summer semester 2025) and thank him for his efforts and support.

These interim appointments follow the passing of former SWK professors Matthias Riebisch (1963–2023, → obituary in English, → Nachruf auf Deutsch) and André van Hoorn (1981–2024, → obituary in English, → Nachruf auf Deutsch).
