Compute Cluster
In addition to the Windows and Linux workstations in the pool rooms, the Informatics computer center (iRZ) offers computing options in a compute cluster. The use of these clusters may require prior consultation regarding the required software.
Equipment
The Linux compute cluster consists of:
Four blade systems ccblade1-4
- 2 Ten Core Intel Xeon processors E5-2630 v4 2.20GHz (40 cores)
- 128 GB of RAM
- operating system is Debian/GNU Linux 12
Four blade systems ccblade5-8
- 2 Ten Core Intel Xeon processors Silver 4114 2.20GHz (40 cores)
- 192 GB of RAM
- operating system is Debian/GNU Linux 12
One system svsram
- 2 Eight Core Intel Xeon processors E5-2690 2.90GHz (32 cores)
- 384 GB of RAM
- operating system is Debian/GNU Linux 12
Usage
- Current usage of and reservations for ccblade1-8 (intranet access only)
For better performance, virtualization was omitted and only some of the services were activated. The Informatik-RZ will set up missing software and functionality, e.g. for parallel computing, on request. Please contact us with suggestions and requirements. Besides the usual linux pool software , users mainly uses neural networks and Povray.
With their 24x7 availability, the systems are particularly suitable for computationally intensive and long-running processes. Please discuss special availability requirements with system support so that maintenance procedures (e.g. reboot) can be coordinated. On request, individual devices can be reserved for dedicated individual users for a limited period of time.
Currently, there are no system enforced access restrictions; users are assumed to behave responsibly and resource-consciously. For a limited time and if there is enough free disk space, users can be provided with local disk space.
