Access for privately owned equipment
The Informatics Computing Centre offers support primarily with the integration of your private Notebooks to the informatics infrastructure.
You can access for example:
- the personal data area of your informatics account
- data areas of projects you are working on during your course
- specific projects / services on the informatics server
- all available printers at the department.
Under limited conditions we can support you with the integration of your private Smart Phones or Tablets. The university’s wireless-infrastructure was conceived by the network group of the Regional Computing Centre, also responsible for maintenance. In this regard, we recommend the latter’s documentation site for various systems: (https://www.rrz.uni-hamburg.de/de/services/netz/wlan.html) .
For network access of your private equipment, use of the wireless-infrastructure is advisable, as the whole informatics campus is powered by this method. Under limited conditions, specialized LAN-access (blue plugs) may be used. While WLAN ‘s capacity decreases with the rising number of users, the “blue plugs” offer stability and a higher data rate.
